D'Ieteren Auto temporarily suspends sales of models that may be affected by the irregularities with respect to CO2 emissions

5 Nov 2015 - D'Ieteren Automotive

On November 3rd, the Volkswagen Group announced that during the course of internal investigations irregularities were found in CO2 levels and fuel consumption figures of vehicles with a diesel and gasoline engine.

According to the Volkswagen Group, around 800,000 vehicles in circulation worldwide are involved. At this stage, D'Ieteren Auto cannot confirm whether any vehicles in circulation in Belgium are affected by these recently identified irregularities. D'Ieteren Auto declares that it will immediately contact the various relevant federal and regional authorities in order to discuss the necessary measures and avoid any financial impact on customers.

Furthermore, the Volkswagen Group has informed all its subsidiaries and independent importers, including D'Ieteren Auto, that models currently available for sale of the brands Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT and Škoda, equipped with a transverse mounted TDI engine and a displacement of 1.4 l, 1.6l or 2.0l, or with a 1.4 TSI or TFSI engine, could as well be potentially affected by these new irregularities. This concerns about 25% of the commercialized products in 2015.

In response and pending the final outcome of the ongoing internal investigations of the Volkswagen Group, D'Ieteren Auto has decided to temporarily suspend sales of potentially affected models. However, current orders will be handled. The Volkswagen Group will do anything within its power to clarify this matter as soon as possible and to re-establish a normal commercialization of its products and services, ensuring that there is no impact on the technical safety of the vehicles involved.
