Pierre-Olivier Beckers appointed independent director at D’Ieteren

The Board of Directors of s.a. D’Ieteren has decided today to appoint by co-optation Mr Pierre-Olivier Beckers as independent Director. The ratification of this appointment will be subjected to the approval of the shareholders at the Ordinary General Meeting of 5 June 2014. Pierre-Olivier Beckers replaces Christian Varin at the Board of Directors. Mr Varin had been appointed Director in 2001 on the proposal of s.a. Cobepa, which has ceased to act in concert with the family shareholders since 31 August 2013.

Pierre-Olivier Beckers (53) has worked from 1983 to 2013 within the Delhaize Group, of which he was the Chairman of the executive committee and managing director from 1999 to 2013; he is a Director of the Delhaize Group since 1995. He has chaired several international associations in the retail and FMCG sectors. He is Deputy Chairman of the FEB and Director at Guberna. He has a degree in applied economics from the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve (IAG) and a MBA from Harvard Business School. Mr Beckers chairs the Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committee (BOIC) since December 2004 and a member of the International Olympic Committee since July 2012.
